Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) 3rd Biennial Forum, New York, NY
Near-universal recognition of the existential threat of anthropogenic global warming, tragically, has not been accompanied by universal direct action within the education sector to effectively engage pedagogical options with the intent to accelerate a multi-sector response to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
The mission of the Renewable Nations Institute is to accelerate the rate at which the education sector can collectively develop an energy services workforce with the capacity to address the global challenges of climate change mitigation and adaptation, and reduce the national security risks and economic disruptions emerging from increasingly frequent extreme climate-related weather events.
We aim to achieve our mission by developing a global consortium of colleges and universities to operate a Work-College Program: The Center for Work-Learning-Service & Leadership in Sustainability (Center).
The goal of the Center is to develop investment-grade proposals under a Work-College program model to stimulate USD 200 billion in U.S.-based investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy through 2030 to help achieve three objectives:
• Achieve universal energy access;
• Double annual global investments in energy efficiency; and
• Double world production of renewable energy.
A “Call to Action”
This is a “Call-to-Action” to collaborate on the development of an academic consortium to establish The Renewable Nations Action Network, an advanced distributed learning (ADL) platform at colleges and universities throughout the world, pursuant to developing the proposed Center for Work-Learning-Service & Leadership in Sustainability.
The Global Challenge Award, Inc., d.b.a. The Renewable Nations Institute, is a Vermont-based, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) corporation. The Institute functions as a nonprofit, private operating foundation.
The Renewable Nations Institute is a Commitment Partner to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGAction13739) and a Proud Partner of the Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) Initiative, a joint venture program of the United Nations and the World Bank.
